Caste and Religion - Better left unknown

In a country like India where secularism is of utmost importance and priority, why are the people being asked for their religion or caste or community?
For an Electoral ID, school admission, passport, ration card or let it be anything; we're kept in-front of a column called the religion, the caste and the community. Do you think that this would help for the welfare of people even at a minute level?? I along with the people of secular India, do not entertain this practice.
How is a child's religion going to influence his academic progress? Are you going to teach the children dividing them on religion? Even in the 21st century, why do we still continue with these social stigmas? As every educated and uneducated Indian knows, a child's religion or caste cannot determine anything on his activities at school. we don't have to divide the growing population on religion. Let us instead classify them based on whether their parents voted last time. That would be way better than this people!! We don't have to inject the feeling of being in-secular in the hearts of our children. Schools are not a place to preach religion. They are not a place to divide students. It is not a place to deprive their broad minds. Rather a place to teach them stay united, integrated and loving. We pledge that all Indians are our brothers and sisters and right after that we ask them to fill forms with a column asking their caste, religion, community and all the shit. Its time to change people. Its time to grow up. Its time to think with a broader mind. We are living in an era of humanity and science. Let the passports, electoral IDs or anything have them, but not in our schools. We don't need to debate on this, but let us print new admission forms without such a useless column in it. Think! Think! Think!
