Monsoon's Skin Care Tips

Monsoon has arrived on time and it is indeed a sign of relief from the scorching sun and sunny days. But is your skin prepared well enough?

The bright shining sun has bid farewell to us as we welcome the dark and silver lined clouds to our skies. This also invites a sudden rise in the humidity and the rainfalls favoring the fungal infections. Every drop of rain, as they fall on your skin, is definitely soothing and relieving but make sure you take enough precautions before you celebrate the monsoon. Monsoon is different from the summer you were exposed till the last few months. And that demands some extra care to your skin to revive the youth and pleasantness..

Here are some tips to protect your skin this monsoon:

1. Protect yourself from fungal actions.
Fungal infections are one of the most common skin irritations seen during the monsoon season. This is due to the skin's prolonged exposure to wetness. Never keep your skin wet for a long period. Always have a wipe handy. Make sure you wipe off the wetness from your skin at regular intervals. Bathing with lukewarm water and using anti fungal creams, soaps and talc will prove to be effective in combating fungal invasion. One of the most commonly seen fungal infection is the ringworm.

2. Drink Plenty of Water
Monsoon doesn't mean that you stop drinking water. Mostly people avoid drinking water thinking that the monsoon season favors the body's water requirements. But people tend to sweat equally during the monsoon and the summer. Even if you sweat less, you definitely have the sweat process going on. Therefore drink plenty of water to replenish your skin.

3. Keep your skin moisturized.
During the monsoon your skin might undergo severe hydration and lead to dryness. Make sure you take enough steps to keep your skin moisturized during the monsoon. Application of rose water, glycerin or almond oil before retiring to bed is beneficial in keeping the skin supple and healthy.

4. Protect your skin against the hidden sun.
Just because you can barely see the sun doesn't mean that your skin isn't exposed to the harmful UV rays. These rays do exist and continue to penetrate to the earth's surface. Remember to apply sun screens before you expose your skin to the outside.

5. Avoid artificial jewellery.
For those who have very sensitive skin, it is best to avoid wearing heavy jewellery altogether. The humidity can make your skin break out when it comes into contact with anything irritable. So avoid jewellery around your neck and wrists and allow your skin to breathe.

Have a happy monsoon. Make sure your umbrellas are unfolded.
