Airtel Zero has been widely touted as an anti net neutrality ideology. But in fact we were
misinformed and misguided my the social media or a group of people using the social media. Airtel zero was nothing against net neutrality. It was a mere promotional package which favored both the public as well as the firms taking part in the scheme along with a win win tactics for Airtel. Stuff has been arm twisted and you need to understand the facts.

First read what the Airtel CEO explains about their Airtel Zero platform:

"Over the last few days you may have seen a lot of conversation on Airtel Zero. It has been painted as a move that violates net neutrality and we have been very concerned at the incorrect information that has been carried by some quarters in the media as well as in social media, I wanted to take this opportunity to clear the air and reiterate that we are completely committed to net neutrality, The platform is open to all app developers, content providers and internet sites on an equal basis and same rate card is offered to all. There is no difference between this and toll free voice such as 1-800, As a company we do not ever block or provide any differential speeds to any website. We have never done it and will never do it. We believe customers are the reason we are in business"The head of country's largest telecom operator said there has been a deliberate effort by some quarters to confuse people that it will offer differential speeds or differential access for different sites.

"This is untrue. After all we earn revenue from data. If there are more customers who are on the internet the better it is for our business. Our revenues are not dependent on which sites they visit because we charge on the basis of consumption of mega bytes not which site they visited," he added.

Now let me explain the stuff. Airtel zero is similar to a toll free number. For me it is simple. If I purchase a data package I will be allowed to use my data on any site without any restrictions. And if I purchase a special promotion data package (eg. social media package or Airtel zero) I will be restricted to use only those sites who pays on behalf of me, Right? No rocket science. It is the same way the telephone works too. You buy credit and you get to call any number on the provided call rates. But certain calls to numbers like 1800- are toll free as the firm has paid the telecom provider already. Or if a departmental store runs a part sale, it will give discount on selected items. Eg. X brand 30% discount, Y brand 50% discount and and Z brand no discount, do we cry that they are favoring a certain brand? Definitely no. It is good for both the customers as well as the firms. Isn't all this the same thing?

Similarly nobody is forcing you to take part in the promotions. Only if we opt for a promotional package, we will have to abide by their terms and conditions. If simply using a promotional package is against net neutrality according to your views, just forget the promotional benefits and carry on with your data package. Just leave the fuzz.

Definitely this was something that would have made browsing free or cheaper for at least a group of us. As more and more companies pool into the 'Airtel Zero' network our chances of taking a data pack reduces. And eventually internet would be free at least for a group of us.

What is wrong in this? Nothing. A group of social media including the AIB arm twisted the facts. There is nothing like differential speeds. Nothing like inequality. Nothing like partiality. Or even nothing that is against Net neutrality. This was something that would have benefited the customers, the companies as well as the telecom provider. In fact this was a good move indeed.

It was just clicks, fame and revenue that forced a few social media goons to arm twist the facts. Beware of these social media gundas, and please use your own brain and do your own research. Dont you agree with this? If not, let us know why?

Mammootty is Bhaskar, an uncouth single parent who is a shame on his young son Aadi (Master Sanoop). He uses coarse language and violence to get things done. And this makes Aadi feel embarrassed about the fact that Bhaskar is his dad. And during the initial minutes of the movie the dislike and embarrassment is portrayed.

It is a common tactic in the Malayalam movie industry these days to include children throughout the movie, not because of their acting skills or innocence but to lend credibility to the ageing superstars who are on the wrong side of 60s but whose names on the marquee still fill theaters.

Bhaskar The Rascal has two amazing people on its credits - Mammootty and director Siddique, but we suggest you take out a DVD of their earlier movies if you want to enjoy their work.

Flipkart has pulled itself out of the Airtel Zero Partnership. Airtel Zero was explained as an open marketing platform that will allow customers to access mobile applications at zero data charges. ‘Airtel Zero’ will allow everyone from big marketers to small-time application developers to make parts or their entire mobile app free for customers.

The platform was also expected to be a big win for customers as it will allow them to access their favourite mobile applications at no data charges, and also encourage them to try out new applications. However, recent reports and public outrage on Net Neutrality concerns due to Airtel Zero, caused a lot of rage on Social Media and revolts everywhere. One of them being rating the Airtel App low on the app Stores.

Official Statement from Flipkart reads –

"We at Flipkart have always strongly believed in the concept of net neutrality, for we exist because of the Internet. Over the past few days, there has been a great amount of debate, both internally and externally, on the topic of zero rating, and we have a deeper understanding of the implications. Based on this, we have decided on the following:

We will be walking away from the ongoing discussions with Airtel for their platform Airtel Zero. We will be committing ourselves to the larger cause of Net Neutrality in India. We will be internally discussing over the next few days, the details of actions we will take to support the cause. We will be working towards ensuring that the spirit of net neutrality is upheld and applied equally to all companies in India irrespective of the size or the service being offered and there is absolutely no discrimination whatsoever"

Why are the authorities silent? Where is the law that penalizes the common man for not having a pollution certificate for their bikes? Why is the Indian law showing partiality? Come on act upon this if you are really bothered of implementing the laws and being just.

What happens when you take a shopping freak who is a fashion addict to one of the Kochi's most famous shopping streets? Things are pretty amazing. Read to know more ;)
It is a lane running between old buildings but newly painted, a block away from the Arabian Sea! Okay, weird geographical description, check out the map! Tourists from all over the world are a common sight here, wearing their newly purchased Saree and Dhothi.
The atmosphere is lively with the vendors trying to sell their wares to the tourists (at sky high prices) in broken English, and the flute sellers and drum sellers playing their music, and so many colorful and shiny distractions. You can find chat-walas, panipuri-walas, bhaji vendors and many other street vendors occupying their places in this busy lane of Kochi.

Being in India we come across discounts and sales of various E-commerce sites in our country. Often we get no benefit from these sales due to various reasons. Here is a small guide on how to deal with the Online Sales or Discounts in an effective manner so that you can make the best out of it.

1. Be prepared and clear about the things you'd like to buy !

Have something like a to-do list. Instead of browsing through the entire product range aimlessly, have certain things in your mind before you start browsing the shopping site. Think and plan about anything that you need or would need in the near future. This can help you out of the mess that is created due to large volume of products available. This will save time as well as the money you spend on ordering random products. But make sure you don't miss some great deals that are running too. You can rely on pages like Deals4You on Facebook. They usually post the best deals happening around in various shopping sites.

2. Create a wishlist on the shopping site !
Most people are unaware about the wishlist option available in most of the E-commerce sites. Adding items to your wishlist is like having your eyes glues onto a product. You can easily know the price of the product you are interested in. You don't have to go through the tedious job of searching and finding the item each time you log in. Your wishlist has it all. Saves time + Makes your job easier.

3. Try to get into the site before the sale begins !

Most of our e-commerce sites run out of bandwidth during sales and peak hours. To avoid this hit back, get into the site a bit earlier. Even though this sounds ridiculous without any scientific backing, it is experienced that the people who are already in a bandwidth limited site would be able to continue to use the site flawlessly while the new entries cant. Try it next time, might turn out to be worth it.

4. Compare before you buy !

Sales or discounts doesn't guarantee you the best price in the market. Before you order an item compare the product's price on other websites too. Often there are chances of finding the same product cheaper on a site without any offers running. It's sometimes a matter of luck.

5. Read about all the available deals running !

Sometimes you might be eligible for some extra discounts for using a particular bank's card or if you are a student. Or maybe something that you haven't imagines in your wildest dreams. So go through all the offers that are running on the particular site you are going to purchase from.

There is a lot of buzz regarding the Apple's flagship product IPhone happening as always. You can find Apple fans advocating the advantages of owning an IPhone. You can also find tech enthusiasts advocating for Android or other smartphones. In fact IPhone does have a few benefits. Maybe it can help reduce the weight of your wallet. ;)

1. You Are Locked Inside An Alien Planet:
Yes, it is definitely sort of something like this. You cannot transfer files, music, videos or any other stuff; to and from your Apple device. iTunes is the only gate to enter or exit into your device. This can sometimes be frustrating when your friends do not own an IPhone. Imagine an outing with your childhood friends, amazing pictures clicked by each of you, and now you wanna share those pics each other before they leave the place. You are screwed !

Note: There are a few third party applications helping you to transfer files between any smartphones from an IPhone but these apps does not seem to be fully functional.

2. You buy the brand and the logo, not a solid hardware:
How many of you are aware of the hardware specifications of an IPhone? Before you'd buy any other smartphone, you will have a number of specifications to look upon. The Memory, the processor, the screen size, the camera quality and so on. But a person who buys an IPhone questions nothing but he just wants it to be an Apple IPhone. There lies the secret behind the immense growth of this gadget manufacturer.

You get a 16GB storage, 8MP camera, a 4.7" mere LCD screen, 1GB of Ram and a very weak 1.4Ghz Cyclone (ARM v8 based) processor for about Rs. 79,999!

Have you ever gone through this? Most of them might haven't. A similar specification based device can be sought for around Rs. 20,000 or below if you go for other brands, and those other brands doesn't refer to the budget Chinese and Indian brands. So you are paying a large sum buying nothing, and this funds the brand, flourishes the brand and here lies the secret behind the companies mind blowing growth within a very few years of existence.

3. Lack of Applications and Utilities:
iOS definitely has a lot of applications and utilities in store, we agree. But it is nothing compared to that of an Android store. You get half of the applications available with the rivals. Most of the applications are available free of cost in other platforms where as iOS juices out your wallet even while you browse through their stores for something lovely or essential.

3. Smooth and User Friendly Interface:

Sometimes you have to get creative when it comes to celebrating a birthday! That is especially true if you have no money. After all, birthday parties can be expensive occasions. - Presents That Don't Cost Any Money

Here are examples of presents that do not cost money:

• You surprise the special boy/girl with a scenic drive around the city or some tourist destinations.
• You plan a picnic with a big group and ask each person to bring a dish. Your own dish is composed of food items you already have in your kitchen.
• Tell all of the guests to bring cameras. Take silly pictures of each other during the party; you will be laughing! After the party, download the photos and create a collage and then gift it.

Remember that after a birthday party people often remember the experience more than a physical present. Quality time spent together really does mean more than a material item.
